Has the fate of the movie Hellboy line been decided, especially now that the comic line is in full force? When movie wave 1.5 came out, I thought that was a good sign that a wave 2 was being planned. Wave 1.5 sold out within weeks at the local Suncoasts, so I'm sure another wave would do well. Not sure if two different HB lines would sell, but maybe if they were staggered I don't see why not. People can't get enough Hellboy figures!

I think its done for now, until Hellboy 2 comes out. I mean who else could they do? We have like almost 8 hellboys, three Abe, and two Kronens, who else can be made?

Liz Sherman, Prof. Broom, Ilsa, "naked" Kroenen, Agent Meyers, Clay... shall I go on?

As much as I would like to see more figures from Hellboy. There won't be any new 'movie' figures until HB2 comes out.

At least we have all those new HB characters to look forward to. I wonder what GDT & Mignola will come up with for the next flick.

Yeah, those would TOTALLY sell.

The plan since Hellboy 1.5 was announced was that there would be no new movie toys until HB2.

Ahh, that makes sense. Something to look forward to when the next HB movie comes out. Thanks for the info. :)

Thought I read in Toyworld that there were licensing issues with producing a Liz & Broom figure from the movie. Probably has to do with using the likeness of the John Hurt and Selma Blair since their likeness is something they have to sign off on, not just a property thing between toy company and the studio.

Also, I read somewhere else that they were thinking of doing a storyline for HB2 about Roger the Homonculus, but it was too similar in theme to the original HB movie. So now, it looks like they are going to focus on the story of Johann in this next film. Wonder if they will just add Roger in, or continue to keep him out... or if they will add the new character of Benjamin Daimio.

Is Benjamin Daimio the new field leader with the scar on his face? I'm not reading the Dead right now because I haven't read Plague of Frogs. But since Plague of Frogs tpb comes out this Wednesday I will soon be all caught up. What's the story with the new field leader? Is he undead or something? I heard he came back from the dead.

Well i don't belive the movie line dead yet. It still has potential for more charcaters to be made, however with the release of the HB Comic figures we won't see anything from the movies for awhile, until Hellboy 2 is released.

I'd buy 'em. I'd also buy Rasputin in his suit, cold weather versions of Ilsa and Kroenen, Ressurection Rasputin, young Bruttenholm with Hellbaby, and Jeffrey Tambor's character (who's name escapes me at the moment. Manning, maybe?). They could be done in limited quantities through Previews or direct through Mezco. Personally I have a bit of the feeling that Mezco sort of dropped the ball on this line. Not totally, because the figures we got were fantastic, but so many Hellboys and Abes, not enough everyone else.

Last i heard, the second movie will feature Johann, and Roger has been droped(although you can see him in the freak corridor when Bruttenholm is giving Meyers the tour) Meyers i believe will also be out of the sequel. This movie will focus on folklore more. GDT and Mike are currently working on the script(remember Del Toro's in the middle of Pan's Labyrinth so don't expect a sequel for a while).

Thus if these changes remain, We should expect A Johann and some new Del Toro ghoulies. That is if Mezco decides to continue the line.-any certanties?

Hellboy 2? Sorry, this is just the first I've heard.

Aslo, is HB2 certain, 'cause I know the movie wasn't exactly a hit at the cinaplex......

HB2 is a certainty. The studio approved the proposed storyline and GDT is writing the script as we speak (he was about halfway through at last notice). It will begin production as soon as he finishes working on his next project 'Pan's Labyrinth'.

Also, HB surpassed the studios expectations with it's theatrical run. Not to mention that it sold a ton of DVD's. Hence, Hellboy 2.:D

It's a shame to hear about Roger, but I have warmed up to Johann lately. And the fact that they know they need to focus more on folklore is a good sign. The first movie desperatly needed more of that quirkiness (and less Del Toro cheesiness) The deal with Daimio (as of part 2) is that he was dead for three days then just woke up. They'll prolly explain more later.

Thanks Phrenic. I just read Plague of Frogs yesterday. I wanted to wait until I got the Plague of Frogs tpb to catch up with the Dead.

Sorry for not getting back to you on that post Xequals10... But Phrenic was dead on with the Daimio info (no pun intended). In "The Dead," Johann seems to have a little bigger role going in the last few issues.... kinda wondering if that has anything to do with him being a big part of the storyline in HB2... like they're focusing more on his character to get him in front of the reader's eye more so they will be curious about the movie storyline. Hey X... one thing you'll get a kick out of with The Dead as it pertains to Daimio is his issue with Roger's pants. Classic!

The GDT cheesiness was ok in the movie. I kind of thought of it like one of the HB weird tales stories... kind of a different writer/artist's interpritation on the characters created by Mignola. I just wish they wouldn't have made Abe such a wuss. Maybe he'll go kung-fu on someone in the next film...or use a presently unknown power or something to give him a little more action than just a scratch on his chest that almost kills him. Dude spent half the movie in an aquarium! Let him kick some monster bootie already.

It's a shame Mezco didn't come out with any Club Mez exclusives for the 1.5 series. There were so many cool things that could have been done. Like an 18" Goliath to go up against the 8" HB, or like a flaming Liz on the hospital bed or something (you could put the flames around Liz's face to cover up the "likeness issue" if that was the problem with getting Slema Blair to sign off on a figure) Same thing thing would appy to a Liz and HB figure together covered in blue flame.

I am happy they did the figures they have though, and am looking forward to the comic line along with the Goon figs..... now if we could only get that "when everything's due out" thread updated....

Like an 18" Goliath to go up against the 8" HB

That would be impossible to make a club exclusive. Too expensive.
