Why are they making a sequel? The first movie was a major dissappointment. Really cool premise, shiite delivery. I thought Underworld really dropped the ball-weak plot, horrid acting, weak "Matrix-like" action sequences-it had it all. A real turd of a flick. The figures were kinda cool though. Oh yeah, no offense-I just hate this film. :D

Seeing as the figures weren't really...uh..."well received" and made barely any money, they won't be making anything.

I liked the movie and all, but that's because I'm into vampires.
The premise was silly. The whole vampire-werewolf thing was odd. The effects were decent. But I didn't see a NEED for a sequal. Where will they go with it?

That and they were supposed to begin production and shooting in December of '03. that's what a magazine had said anyways. I don't think they'll ever get around to it. It would be like making a sequal out of Van Helsing. There's no where to really GO with it.
I liked the movie, don't get me wrong. But I just don't see a need for a sequal.

Underworld did kinda blow, but unfortuatly it looks like there will be a definate sequel, Evolution.

Still, Van Helsing made Underworld look like a cinema classic. I cannot believe that I paid full price to see that dreck. That, and that it made more money than Hellboy. If HB were released in May or June it would have made 100 mil easily.

And while I'm still ranting, Van Helsing I heard cost 160 million to make. I mean, holy @#$%! Instead of pissing that money away on what will surely be remembered as one of the most trite "blockbusters" of all time, that could have made one heck of a difference in some third-world country or something like that. At the beginning of the movie there was an ad to give money to cancer patients, so why not 160 million?

I think a big part of why they didn't go over as well as the could have was the style/size they were done in. If they had been a little bigger and more posable it might have helped (the scenery/backgrounds they each came with were cool though). I just thought they were too small in comparison to 90% of the rest of my collection and would look weird displayed next to anything else.

As for the movie itself, I was entertained. No, it wasn't what I was hoping for and could have been better, but I didn't feel like I "wasted" a rental after seeing it. I tend to give "action" films a lot of leeway and not judge them quite as seriously as I do dramas. Same thing with comedy films. Action or comedy, I just want to be entertained. With a drama (which may have action) I want something "deeper".
