SOTA announced the three figures for the Lovecraft line...Cthulhu (which we've already seen), a Shoggoth, and Pickman's Model:

I'm a tad put out that the press release misspells both Cthulhu and shoggoth, but oh well. These figures will be great--and should make an excellent complement to Mezco's Hellboy figures for those who like to mix lines.
I'm definitely getting the Cthulhu, but I'll wait on the other figures. "Pickman's Model" should be good--just a Lovecraftian ghoul, basically--but I hope he's not too pre-posed in his corpse-eating.
The shoggoth, however, I'll have to see before I make any decisions. In the stories (or rather, story--the shoggoth's only real appearance is in At the Mountains of Madness), the shoggoth is just a huge, black, amorphous blob that can generate random organs (like a hundred eyes) at will--kind of like the creature in John Carpenter's The Thing. But I can't see it making a very interesting action figure...I'm very curious to see what SOTA has done with it.
All should be revealed at Toy Fair.

Okay, this may sound like a stupid question, but what does "SOTA" stand for? I know I have seen numerous products of theirs, and may have even heard the name before-but I am drawing a total blank here. Help a brutha out.

GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY!!! As a long time Lovecraft reader and fan this is some of the best figure news there could be! And those sculpts are fantastic!!! Cthulhu looks really, really good. For those of you who haven't read "Pickman's Model" take the time to do so! The story is creepy enough, I'm anxious to see what that sculpt will look like!
We can only hope they do other stories! Maybe "The Rats in the Walls"...the herdsman and his bulbous rat-like herd! That would be awesome. Maybe Wilbur Whateley?!? Oh man, this could be great. I hope someone is really dedicated to this line.
And by the way Poe Ghostal...that's the old Yotian Soldier in your avatar, isn't it?!? LOL...haven't played Magic in forever.

I've only ever read one Lovecraft story and I can't remember the name of it. Can anybody recommend some good Lovecraft stuff to read?

There are three Penguin collections of Lovecraft's fiction out now. Start with the first one--"The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories":

Hey, this is great, great news. I just saw the hellboy for the first time and now this. I'm overwhelmed with joy. And as for lovecraft tales check the link, it'll take awhile to read, i just use it as back up if i can't find a book...

I'm buying them.
I can't wait to prop these up next to my COMIC HELLBOY figures, then I can take some PICTURES of my COMIC HELLBOY figures battling these Lovecraftian horrors. I wonder if they'll ever make a proper motion PICTURE based on a Lovecraft story. I hear that after HELLBOY 2 Del Toro wants to make another motion PICTURE based on "At the Mountains of Madness". I wonder if GDT will give Ron Perlman who played HELLBOY,a cameo in his Lovecraft movie? I could PICTURE him as an old sea captain. HELLBOY PICTURES!!!

I still haven't heard how big these are gonna be. Corner Store Comics has them up for preorder for about $20 USD. Has anyone heard the size?

I think I heard they're 8" scale.

I'd heard bigger than that, but I'll know soon for sure--we're doing an interview with Jerry about this line.

I think I read that they were in 8 inch scale. I know that I heard they are doing a larger scale rotocast Cthulhu.

Whoa, definitely hadn't heard about the rotocast--weird.

I'm digging two out of the three, Cthulhu and the Dagon. I am dissapointed by the apparent size of them too, but they're still great designs, and if the paints are pretty close to the protos I won't be able to resist.

How big are they? I really want these too but not if they're tiny...especially at $ 20 each....
