Default The Holy Grail of Living Dead Dolls

This may cause a stir, but I was just wondering:

In everyone's opinion, what do you consider to be the most sought after LDD? Since I'm still new at this, I'm trying to be on the look out for great deals on rare/special dolls. Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

Eddie for me.. I would give anything for him!!

Infact, I had a deal with my mum a while ago that I'd cut off my dreadlocks if she got me Eddie.. She tried but it was a dodgy e-bay deal so here I am, dread-less and Eddie-less

So here are my two cents on the subject:

When You guys reefer to a so-called "Holy Grail" i wonder if you are talking about the one ultimate Living Dead Doll piece to add to a collection, or the doll most people are after, or the doll/item that is most rare, because as far as i see it, i can relate to a "holy grail" if we are speaking to the most valuable doll in a collection, and that should be the one that goes for more money right? something like a handamade i'd say, or maybe even Bloody Eggzorcist, but i would never ever name White Dress Fashion Victim Lilith as a "Holy Grail" and there are so many people always coming up with that specific doll/dress, last time i saw her on Ebay she went for merely 350$ and the last handmade went for like 1500$.

On the other hand i kinda feel that people like me and old-skull(lol) collectors feel like the ultimate doll in our collections would have to be either a handmade doll or Bloddy Eggzorcist, and the newer collectors tend to indicate their new holy grail are dolls like Rain, or even Frozen Charlotte, i find it quite amusing and interesting isn't it? what do you guys think?

To name a specific handmade holy grail, I would put Candy Rotten right at the top. If you wanna go "Unatainable" I would say one of the 2 handmade Christmas dolls.

I don't think you can call any of the dolls that were seriously mass produced a Holy Grail. Here's my list.

1. Holiday Doll
2. Any of the Bloody Series 5 dolls
3. Any Handmade Doll
4. Chiller Bloody Eggzorcist
5. Prototypes

We all are individuals (well hopefully most of us ) so we have diff views, opinions, blah blah blah but anyways the "holy grail" for me would have to be Eddie. I had the chance to get him for $60 in the summer of '05 but thought thats too $$$ I can def get him for cheaper on ebay. Well right after he came out his price f.ucking sky rocketed (seriously it was crazy) so I basically punch myself in the balls now bc I'll have to shovel out 3x the amount I could of originally paid.

To each their own opinion, honestly. Some people absolutely have to have would kill for Edward Scissorhands and some people would absolutely have to have would kill for Res. Variant Posey. Two completely different dolls and completely different styles.

If you sat down and actually thought about it the "holy grail" of LDDs would be a doll there would only be -one- of. Example: Handmades and Bloody Series 5 (I think there was only one of each, right?) To have a doll that no one in the world could possibly ever have, would be considered the "holy grial", at least to me. Becuase if you go by the term of "holy grail"... Well, there was only -one- Holy Grail. Lol

One could say that one of the holiday dolls would be a good example of a "holy grail" doll, but there's no possible way that anyone not being the creators would get one.. amirite?

Just a thought.

I totally agree with Pogo!!! Even a doll like Edward, you can still get for a couple hundred dollars, but the REAL hard to get dolls like handmades and such, I would have to sell my kidney to even have the slightest chance to own. lol

For me it has to be a doll I want, not just a rare one made by ed and damien.
I don't care about Lost in a different color dress, or a little blood splatter on a white eggzorcist.
That's just me though.
I prefer "one of a kind" handmades.
I just bought one from Porcelena, and she is gorgeous, and will probably be my new favorite when I get her(I'll post pics when she arrives from "Down Under").
I would love to get one of the x-mas dolls though(I love the color combination).
I say just buy em' if you like em'(and can afford them).

Can you believe that today there are two, count 'em, two listing for the bloody glow in the dark Club Mez Jack and Jill variants? One for $395 and the other for $250, I think. Craziness. And I am so over budget on dolls right now, I'm going to pass on them. That $250 deal is tempting if they aren't fake. The seller had a normal Club Mez set sold a few weeks back, so they may well be real.

Well, I got lucky and on the first set of Club Mez Jack & Jill's I ever bought (through Club Mez, back in the day) I pulled a glowing/bloody variant!

As for the SDCC Jack & Jill...not so lucky. I only tried my hand at one sealed set, no luck. So I ended up buying the variants for $250 so I could add them to my collection. It was a bit rough at the time, but for us, definitely worth it.

In case any one wants some guidelines for a long-time buyer of LDD's, a completist, and a bargain hunter; here are some of the approximate amounts I have paid for some of the "Holy Grails" of LDD's that I was not able to buy at retail or lucky enough to pull as a variant from a retail purchase:

White Lost: $120
SDCC Bloody/Glowing Jack & Jill: $250
Variant Jeepers: $220
Bloody Blue Eggzorcist: Trade for a set of regular Series 1 Ressurection dolls
Hong Kong Penny: $230 (a great deal, by the way)
Chiller Eggzorcist: $670 (one of the greatest deals in LDD history)
