Series 17: Urban Legends With Picture

We all know them, things that happened to a friend of a friend, stories everyone swears are true.
They are, Urban Legends. Now, for the first time, the Living Dead Dolls immortalize five of the most infamous legends:


THE HOOK- Parked on a dark road, a bulletin comes over the radio that a criminally insane patient has escaped the asylum. What is that scratching on the car door? Could it be the escaped lunatic? He comes complete with removable hook.


THE VANISHING HITCHHIKER- He found her alone on a desolate road on a dark night, he offered a ride. The next day, he remembers he left his jacket with her. He returns to retrieve it only to find, did she really exist in the first place? Complete with letterman jacket.


THE UNWILLING DONOR- Waking up dazed and in a bathtub filled with ice, what's that crudely stitched up wound on her side and note by the phone? She has become THE UNWILLING DONOR, complete with kidney.


SPIDER BITE- Returning home froma tropical getaway, she noticed a small bump on her cheek. Thinking it is just a pimple she continues to apply cream, until one day...


BLOODY MARY- Only the brave or foolish would dare to stand in front of a mirror in a darkened room and call her name thirteen times. Once summoned, her price must be paid...in blood! She comes complete with mirror accessory.


Some legends aren't born, they're dug up.

Posted this on the other thread, however if this is the official one, I'm reposting it here...

I love the Hitchiker's thumb!! She and Mary need shoes, though - I hope they WILL have something on their feet. The paintwork on the Hitchiker's face is nicely done, looks hand-done (of course, if she's a prototype). Her hair is rather noticeably choppy and uneven looking, which is a shame.

I expected not to like Spider Bite, but I like her "punky" look and her purple hair, and her make up is rather good. She's kooky.

Bloody Mary is terrifying - one of the most scary LDDs I've ever seen, and I think she's great. The screaming face works really well with this design. She has the best frock of the series, though the Hitchiker's dress looks pretty. Her hair isn't looking too great though - I'm not really getting what's going on with it. At the risk of being gross, it looks sort of like Amy Winehouse sicked up a hairball on her head.

The Unwilling Donor is very pretty and I like her eyes, but she does seem rather plain. I think she will be this series' Flamingo. Her hair looks to be a really cool petrol-bluish colour.

The Hook has the coldest and most evil eyes I've ever seen on one of these dolls. Wow. Pretty impressive.

I have to say that this is quite probably the most frightening series as a whole that's been done - which is a good thing. So well done to the creators!

welll......Im a litle .... ok Im completly disapointed ... I thinked that spider bit were be disgusting and is more.... like a tattoo .... I was waiting like a big hole whit a lot of spiers and blood really disgusting but is more like a tatto ....... and also the hook ... I dont really see him with green hair XD he makes me think a dragqueen XD but the rest of the series is really nice!!! my pref is bloody mary she's georgious !!!! OMG like shes so nice whit alll her blood!!!!

Now that I see them all, I would say Bloody Mary and The Unwilling Donar are my two favorites. The Unwilling Donar reminds me of Frozen Charlotte! Instead of a jacket, we have a nice blue bath robe. As for Bloody Mary, hahah she looks just spooky amazing!! Overall I'm glad I pre-ordered the series and like them all. I was hopeing that Spider Bite would be a bit more gory though.

Okay, gotta say my piece This is the order of liking right now (could change once I have them in hand, ya know how that goes):

Bloody Mary - AWESOME! Absolutely brilliant job on her! Terrifyingly beautiful!!
Spider Bite - Love the quirky cut & color of her hair. Face should be bumpy where spiders are coming out though...
Unwilling Donor - Cute, sad, reminiscent of Rain
The Hook/Hitchhiker - not sure which of the two I like most/least. The hook really needs to lose the green hair, makes him look laughable instead of scary. The Hitchhiker, LOVE the thumb up (what else did we expect?!) not too sure about the paint job on her face. Looks like an amateurish custom to me......sorry

So, there you have it. The only one I'm really psyched about is Bloody Mary. Have they ever changed things on a doll after the promo pics have been released? (they did with Hollow, didn't they?) Anyway, just wondering if there's any hope for a bit of tweaking on these dolls - especially Hook's hair!

at first glance i dont get excited by any of them....but i didnt like flamingo yet when i saw her in the shop in town i got her...so that could happen with these...the spider bite one has great hair and i like her outfit but the spider bite bugs me for some reason! its nice to see some alternative hair colours i must say! the hitchhiker is doing my head in because she reminds me of another doll ive seen somewhere...a custom...i dont know if it was the art show or just a regular custom....gah lol

I would rank them about the same as you Raven Fae. Except I would put Unwilling Donar ahead of Spider Bite. Well here is my thoughts overall in rank.

1. Bloody Mary. Gory gory bloody detail, whats not to love.
2. Unwilling Donar. She is so darn cute and reminds me of Frozen Charlotte.
3. Spider Bite. Hmmm I'm not crazy about the clothes but do like the hair and the bite on the face looks pretty cool also.
4. The Hook. Love the hook, the green hair is ok but thought this doll could have been more spooky, the hair color kind of takes away from what could be a really spooky doll.
5. The Vanishing Hitchhiker. Love the thumb and jacket but not much detail as far as the doll itself. Thought they could have done more with this doll, not much effort.

Anyway that is Foggys opinion on series 17.

I totally agree with LDD Goth, the spider "tattoo" is pretty lame. I was hoping they would of gone with the other route of this myth about the woman with the beehive hair do, or at least made a real hole in the face of this doll.

As for the whole series, I think they actually look pretty boring and just awful.. I'm totally disappointed. The donor has a sweet face but shes pretty plain. The hitch hiker is kinda neat in the face but very plain everywhere else. I had high hopes for bloody Mary. But at least I'll save some money .

On the good side, the hitch hiker's thumb is pretty neato.

i did not think I would like the donor, but I do! and the hook looks so cool! Bloody Mary....interesting, reminds me alot of Lilith but I think I will get her at least because Bloody Mary is in my book series but the Vanishing hitchhiker is a bit of a disappointment for me...but I love the look for this series

I think the Donor and the Hitch hiker will grow on me. I like them, I just think they are a little too plain. Maybe have a little blood running down the donors leg or make the Hitch hiker's feet a little dirty.

I believe that Spider bite actually could of made a neat original punk doll without all the "hole" paint. I am happy to see a doll with purple hair!

I LOVE the donor! She's so cute and I love her hair, I will defiantly have to get her. The hitchhiker and bloody mary are good, I like them but don't love them. I really don't like the other two at all. I was super excited for spider bite, but I'm really disappointed they just painted it on. I wanted it to have the gashed mould, or some different sculpt.

Wow those look amateur. I seriously hope that in the store at least one looks good in person. I really thought the recent designs were improving with the last series. Sometimes it's more important to make a nice looking doll them to have a cleaver theme.

I'm so glad the Unwilling Donor turned out the way she did. She definitely conveys the tragic innocence of the urban legend.

I was indifferent about The Hook's story, and remain so about the doll. I'd rather they take off the cuts on his face, and attempt to make him look more disturbed, as opposed to angry.

Bloody Mary is fine to me. I seriously hope they don't change a thing, like they did with Isabel.

I wish Spider Bite's wound was more disgusting. She's just looking too cute.

I'm content with The Hitchhiker.

My favorite, as they are now, is Unwilling Donor. She's perfection.

I have to say that I'm quite impressed with this series. It's very nicely done and I'm looking very forward to when they come out. I have to say bloody mary looks so awesome there is something about her that really drew me to her. I normally don't buy a whole series but this time around I'll have to only if my boss wants to order in a case for me along with a couple of cases for work as well. Well done I can't wait to see the finished dolls with their d/c and chip boards

I like bloody Mary, but her hair is kind of strange, The others are, eh.... I see the donor as pretty good custom bait. Not too much a fan of the purple or green hair. Maybe they will grow on me but right now, I only like Mary. I don't know whats up with the hook but his hair just doesn't do it for me. Way too bright.

I got all excited by the name of the series, I love urban legends. Like i said on the other post that the dolls look similar to old dolls, and that made me a little disappointed. Bloody mary looks like tina black. The Hook reminds me of Wolfgang, and the Vanishing Hitch hiker remind me of Faith. Spider bite well i love her hair hopefully her eye make-up gets better.

The molds are the same, I hope they improve a lot before production these are just rough sketches. And in person I find dolls look better anyways..

Ravenz, great point too on seeing that Bloody Mary looks like Tina Black. I hope these will not be the final result. I like some things about these dolls, and not other things. Overall though, this series just don't have that WOW factor. It seems like (at least at this point) these dolls were a bit rushed in the makeing. I just hope the end result will be different and they will WOW me.

I have to join the chorus of the "I'm not feeling it" folks! In fact, it might be the first time since I started collecting in 2001 that I won't be getting the entire series. I have so little room for more dolls that now I will only be getting the ones that "speak" to me. I don't have to have ALL the dolls...I just have to have ALL the dolls that I can't live without!

The only one I don't think I will be able to live without in this series is "The Hitch-hiker". Possibly, Bloody Mary, but I iwll be waiting for the release before I decide.

I think I'm ready for another "random" series. Meaning, they don't all have to fit a theme.

Of course, there is always the possiblity that I will change my mind once I see them in person...

Hook - I thought he was a psychopath who escaped? So when did mental asylums start allowing their deranged killers dye their hair? But other than the hair he looks orite but shud lose the scars coz it makes him wolfgang with a hook.
Hitchhiker - I think with a little tweaking she'll look good, atm i like the ghostly paleness but i would prefer her with eyes, would you let someone with blank eyes in your car on a lonely road at night?
Unwilling donor - im not sold on her at all, i know shes innocent but shes coming back from the dead to reak revenge.
Bloody mary - i like her but...she looks like res lilith with scars, minus fangs. bloody and scarred, so yeh shes orite.
Spiderbite - punk is a cool look, i like the hair but the spider bite isnt really that good, maybe if they take a look a porcelana's smallpox custom they will have an idea of what to do with the face. I want spiders sitting ON her face not tattooed on it.

Hello I am new.



1. Overall, the series is less impressive then Series 16, which got me into collecting your product.



2. I’m thinking these are just early prototypes?



3. The Hook - needs to look more like an escaped mental patient!!!!!! Put a "Sunnyview Asylum" patch on the jacket! And loose the green hair!



4. Spiderbite needs to be textured and be like a gaping hole exposing bone!



5. Unwilling Donor needs to have the huge scar exposed!!!!!!!



6. This line looks less dead and more normal than other lines I’ve seen.'



7. Hitchhiker needs eyes, perhaps glass eyes that are clear?



Just a few thoughts... I'd really like to see a "Asylum" patch on the hook.

I love Bloody Mary, her dress is great and she is really scary!
Love hitchhiker, I like the fact her face looks hand painted, it gives her that ghostly apparition look and of course the thumb is priceless.
The unwilling donor is so cute. I hope though that under her housecoat there is a huge scar. It would make her awesome

Now for the other 2....Spider bite I was hoping would have more of a 3d effect in her skin. The purple hair is cute but not crazy about it.
The hook, same thing the green hair just throws me off. When I think hook I think old man so I was expecting grey hair maybe.

I'll probably get the whole set sooner or later, but I'll probably go for the ones I like first.

The only one I like or would consider buying is spider baby mainly bc her getup reminds me of a goth/new wave kid from the 80's. The rest don't do anything for me though and I'm really disapointed in Mary.

bloody mary: love her, hope the shopped dress becomes a reality.
the donor: love her, kinda looks like rain, whom i don't have, so it works for me.
spiderbite: like her, love her hair, could use a gaping hole and some 3d spiders.
hitchhiker: love her, love the jacket, and thumb is great.
the hook: love his hair! don't change! he does look menacing to me.
overall: love the series!!!!!!!!!
