No repeats when I collect

I love all the LDD but I have to keep from going $ crazy$ like I did last time or else I will be poor and in a hoarders home. So I have a system that will hopefully help keep it under control.
1.) With the exception of series one AND the ones given as gifts I do not buy LDD older than the series with ball joints.
2.) No modern dressed dolls(after 1980)
3.) No more open mouth dolls as I have three already
4.) Boy dolls have to be really unique or cool
5.) No movie based LDD except maybe...Dracula
6.) No dolls with repeat dress patterns (example: Toxic Molly and Hazel/Hattie,Wrath and Cuddles)
7.) No adult aged dolls as to keep the theme of creepy children but again Dracula may make the cut.
Am NOT saying that any doll 'sucks' or that I believe anyone else should do this. I am just saying this will be the way I try to control spending.

With my spending issues, I try to limit myself to selecting no more than 2 (on rare occasion 3) dolls from each series. It's not quite as effective, but it's deffinetly brought down my list from it's original stature. And I don't really care for open mouth dolls, so I'm safe there.

Yes and if even if I had the ability to get EVERY LDD for free I would not as I do not have the space, I will be damned if I let my bedroom get suffocatingly full of anything. I do have mild claustrophobia.

I am by no means a complete collector. I usually just get the ones that really speak to me if you know what I mean. I also like ones that sort of break the mold like Hazel and Hattie. Cuddles is my only gashed face doll because of all of them she is my fave

and Dee K is my only green doll. I don't really have any strict rules though

Believe me.
I have all the dolls and they are all in my bedroom except for a few that I bought doubles just to display around the house.
Keeping up on dusting is near impossible!
It certainly would be easier if I had less, but I can't stop myself.
The attic is no good as it gets WAY hot in the summer and freezing in the winter.
The coffins get warped.
I learned the hard way.

I used to have some guidelines like this, now, my collection is small, I don't have 100 dolls or anything, but I used to think, dont get whole sets and just buy the ones I like, and no repeats too, but then I broke the rules

My rules are: They have to "speak" to me, like I have a lot of vampires, because it's my favourite fantasy creature...
I love a lot of the victorian looking ones, so most of my dolls have old timey dresses like Beauty, Lilith, Posey and Tenebre...
And yeah, I narrowed my set buying to only one or two to a series and they have to follow my above rules, lol. For example, I'm only gonna get Agatha because I love the crack in her face and her dress, AND she'll be my first eye-less doll.

The only rules I have are, if I don't like them, I don't buy them, and only one of the same doll (Unless I buy one to resell)

HA! this is exactly what goes on... i think about dolls all day, i write lists, i try and have a system (i like the 'no repeats' idea) I want to try and attempt to diversify my dolls and pick up new ones systematically to make the collection grow in a visually pleasing way... and then you are in front of the dolls that you can buy RIGHT NOW
